Tech support scams are becoming more common and more convincing. They often target older people. This article will help you recognise them and stay safe.
WHAT Ailova‧Care WILL NEVER DO
This is the most important thing to know:
- We will only contact you if you have asked us to.
- We will never ask for your online banking login or passwords.
- We will never ask you to buy gift cards or make unusual bank transfers.
- We only use LogMeIn as our remote access tool – no other software.
If a caller does any of these things, it is not us. Hang up.
COMMON SCAM TACTICS
Fake refund calls
Someone calls to say you are owed a refund. They ask for your bank details "to process it." This is a scam. We will never call you to offer a refund without your request.
"There's a problem with your computer"
They ask to connect to your computer remotely to "show you the problem." Once connected, they steal passwords and banking information.
Overpayment trick
Scammers claim to have sent you too much money and ask you to "return the difference" – via gift card, goods, or bank transfer. This money does not exist.
Creating urgency
They say the situation is urgent and you need to act right away. This is a pressure tactic. Real support is available whenever you are ready.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF
1. If you receive an unexpected call, do not give any personal information.
2. Hang up and call us back on our official number to verify.
3. Never allow anyone to connect to your computer unless you call us first.
4. Be suspicious of numbers marked "Private" or "Unknown."
5. Refuse any request for a "test transaction" – this is always a scam.
